My name is Taylor Hardaway. I am a working artist living in downtown Nashville in the city's only artist lofts, the Ryman Lofts. I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts concentrating in painting.
My work deals with the way people start their day. In my opinion it is something that in some ways is taken for granted. It is something everyone does every day.. Although unfortunately it seems like the experience of waking up isn't something that most people look forward to. More so, it is something that we just find a way to deal with and get used to after about an hour or so. We all have to get up early for work and when we were young we had to get up early for school. At the same time, even if we are miserably tired we notice that there is a beauty that surrounds that time of day. For me, the morning is when I feel most creative and it is when the potential for peak happiness is possible.
The idea of communicating a particular mental state by relying, in different degrees, on happy accidents is the artistic process that speaks to me.What I want to do with my paintings and drawings is convey my own mental states by applying different degrees of control through representational and abstract works.
